It’s the future, and the earth has been destroyed, making life on it impossible. But, in the aftermath of the apocalypse, humanity has created a giant dome that protects them from meteors that would otherwise wipe them out. Inside this dome, however, is a secret: people are still able to see the outside world, but become emotionally unhinged and can never leave. Inside the dome, everyone must live in solitude, or face execution.
In the near future, all of humanity has been wiped out by a mysterious virus. However, a group of survivors have gathered together in a secret government lab, hoping to find a cure for the infection. What they discover is a perfect, artificial world fuelled by heavy metals, where a single human is the only other soul on the planet. The film stars Jonathan Meath, one of the stars of the original Saw movies, as Dr. James Heller, and is directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly, the man behind the upcoming Repo: The Genetic Opera.
The movie industry has seen a revival of sorts. From the success of The Dark Knight and The Avengers, to the surprise box office success of Paranormal Activity, studios are finally starting to put money into more original independent films rather than the sequels and franchise films they once relied on. One of these independent films is Solitary, which comes out in Canada on August 15th and will be available on September 7th on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film centers on a man who is stuck on a deserted island, but his isolation is interrupted when he is visited by a mysterious stranger who tells him of a mission that needs his help.
We’re excited to announce the release of ‘Solitary,’ a sci-fi thriller that will be available in select cinemas and on demand on September 24th, 2021.
‘Solitary’ is the work of visual effects specialist Luke Armstrong, a British filmmaker. After directing and scripting approximately 12 short films, the latest of which has the same title, this is his first full-length movie.
